The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program assists eligible households with bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, weatherization and energy-related home repairs. Assistance is available once a year and awarded on a points-based system to ensure the most-needy are assisted first. It takes up to 30 days to process payment to the utility company, with exceptions given only for crisis payments (for shut-off notices) within 24 hours.
If you qualify for Regular Assistance above AND you received a cut-off notice, you may qualify for Emergency Assistance. To qualify, one of the below must apply to your household:
This program is offered throughout the year or until all funds are exhausted
Applications are taken quarterly during the months of January, April, July, and October.
Crisis applications are taken year round, and are dependent on the availability of funds.
Completed applications can be mailed or delivered in person to 2254 Albert Pike Road, Hot Springs AR 71913.
