The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program assists eligible households with bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, weatherization and energy-related home repairs. Assistance is available once a year and awarded on a points-based system to ensure the most-needy are assisted first. It takes up to 30 days to process payment to the utility company, with exceptions given only for crisis payments (for shut-off notices) within 24 hours.
If you qualify for Regular Assistance above AND you received a cut-off notice, you may qualify for Emergency Assistance. To qualify, one of the below must apply to your household:

Applications are taken quarterly during the months of January, April, July, and October.
Crisis applications are taken year round, and are dependent on the availability of funds.
