Bus Driver

Position Title: School Bus Driver

Employment Status: Part-time

Immediate Supervisor: Field Operations Director

Titles of Position Supervised: None

Major Objectives: Drive a school bus for students on field trips

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a school bus to transport passengers to and from field trip sites
  • Inspect vehicle before each trip using a list of required safety checkpoints
  • Report any mechanical problems
  • Complete all required paperwork
  • Keep bus floor and seats free of obstacles, trash, and dirt at all times
  • Ensure that all passengers are properly seated, and all students are properly secured in their car seats before putting the vehicle in motion.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations
  • Leads student safety drills
  • Cell phone usage is prohibited while driving the vehicle
  • In the event of an accident involving personal injury and/or property damage, a traffic incident, or a traffic violation, inform supervisor immediately
  • Take immediate action when necessary to ensure the safety of the passengers and the vehicle
  • Exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving

 

General Duties

  • Keep Management informed by:
    • Attending Staff Meetings
    • Completing Ongoing Monitoring Checklists
    • Completing Monthly Reports
    • Sharing any reports of Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Protect program integrity and client privacy by keeping all program information gained through employment at CSO absolutely confidential during and after this employment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning by participating in Staff Development training
  • Contribute to team effort by:
    • Understanding and following the CSO Head Start Policies and Procedures Manual
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Class C Arkansas Driver’s License with a Passenger Endorsement or greater
  • Safe Driving Record
  • Cleared Criminal Record check and Arkansas Child Maltreatment check
  • Cleared FBI Record check, including fingerprints
  • Ability to pass a TB screening
  • Ability to pass a Bus Driver Physical
  • Ability to travel from center to center to complete job requirements
  • Ability to work a varied schedule between the hours of 7:30 and 5:30
  • Ability to lift up to a 40-pound child or get down on the floor if needed
  • Able to manage and prioritize your own workload
  • Respond appropriately (mentally and physically) to any emergency or crisis situation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Verbal and Written Skills
  • Professional demeanor
